Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of these terms

By creating an account or otherwise using Local ("we", "us", "the platform"), you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the platform.

2. What Local is

Local is a free portfolio platform for young Zimbabweans. It gives every youth a public profile showcasing their education, projects, and dreams, and gives verified institutions (government bodies, NGOs, companies, and universities) a directory to discover and connect with youth talent.

3. Accounts

  • You must provide accurate information when you register and keep it up to date.
  • You are responsible for keeping your password secure and for all activity on your account.
  • Institution accounts must be verified by an administrator before they can access the talent directory or message youth.
  • Youth accounts on Local are, and always will be, free. We will never charge youth to create or maintain a profile.

4. Your content

You keep ownership of everything you upload, your photos, project descriptions, and profile details, but by posting it you give us permission to display it on Local (including in link previews when your profile is shared) so the platform can work as intended. You are responsible for making sure you have the right to share anything you upload.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Impersonate another person or organization, or misrepresent your affiliation with one.
  • Post content that is unlawful, harassing, hateful, or sexually explicit.
  • Use the messaging system to spam, scam, or solicit users for unrelated purposes.
  • Attempt to scrape, copy, or bulk-download profiles or the directory outside normal use of the platform.

Reported content and accounts are reviewed by our moderation team, and we may suspend or remove accounts that break these rules.

6. Messaging

Messaging on Local is request-based: a message only becomes a conversation once the recipient accepts it. Declining a request is silent, the sender is not notified. Message volume is rate-limited to prevent abuse.

7. Termination

You may delete your account at any time from your settings. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, at our discretion, with or without notice.

8. Disclaimers

Local is provided "as is". We do our best to keep the platform available and accurate, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted service, and we are not responsible for the accuracy of content that users post about themselves.

9. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will make a reasonable effort to let you know. Continuing to use Local after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.
